On Friday (2/24), the THS Indians began their quest to make it to Team completion at States! Mixed success was experienced, the #2 ranked D2 girls had an off day and came in tied for 5th. The #5 ranked D2 boys were focused and bowling hard and earned a 2nd place finish. The top three in the Regional featuring 17 teams, earn a spot at the MHSAA State D2 Finals at the Canton Super Bowl this coming Friday and Saturday. The boys were led by Sophomore Julian Liuska with his 620 three-game series. Junior, Trevor Blair rolled a 225 game, and Senior, Tevon Hastings rolled a 227 game.
On Saturday (2/25), the Indians sent six girls and six boys to bowl in the Singles Regional Competition. In order to make it to MHSAA State D2 Individual Finals, a bowler must bowl six games and finish within the top ten. The competition featured over 90 girls in their event, and over 100 bowlers in the boys. After bowling for five straight hours, the Indians are sending three bowlers to States. For the Boys, Senior, Tevon Hasting and Sophomore, Logan Hoffmeister are moving on. Tevon averaged 210, and Logan averaged 209 during the six-game block. Additionally, the boys had four of the top twenty spots. On the girls side, it ended up being a melancholy day. On the positive side, Junior, Kendall Herron earned the last qualifying start with her six-game series of 1,076. Freshman, Kaylee Pinter, came in 11th with her 1069 series. It’s tough on everyone, when your teammates are battling against each other for the last spot down to the last frame.
