Boys Junior Varsity Soccer, Boys Varsity Soccer · Tecumseh Soccer vs Jackson Northwest

Tecumseh 4. v Jackson Northwest  0
Goals: Josh Nowak (2), Jacob Dennison, Konner Linn
Assists:  Josh Nowak, Jonny Montoya

We got a real good effort from the team today.  Before the game, we wanted to really focus on quick combinations in the middle and offensive thirds of the pitch.  We did a lot of things well but the execution broke down.  Finally, about 20 minutes in, Josh Nowak made a steal, drove into the box beating two defenders and found the right corner.  A lot of play continuef up and down the field but the score stayed 1-0.

Message at half was stay the course but clean up the execution  and keep it simple.

Right out of the gate, we took the ball and smartly created a great scoring chance.  We didn’t let up from there.  We controlled  a very large amount of the 2nd half, keeping the ball in our offensive end.  About 15 minutes in, Jonny Montoya got a pass to Konner Linn going to the goal.  Linn did a nice job of calmly finishing to put us up 2-0.  Shortly after, Nowak had a free kick from 28 yards out.  With a strong strike, he bent the ball around the wall and into the bottom right hand corner past a diving keeper.  Things wrapped up on another beautiful combination play started by Matt Rochford, to Nowak to Jacob Dennison.

“I was very pleased with the guys commitment in the first half even though we struggled a bit technically.  The 2nd half might have been some of the best soccer we played.”

Dillon Donaghy and Nick Giovannone  both were very good at stopping the Northwest attack in the first half.  Our possession in the 2nd half gave Northwest little opportunity to attack.

We are now 18-1-1, and posted our 13th shutout of the year.

JV team beat Northwest 8-0 in a dominating performance.  Goals were scored by Tyler Foss (3), Michael Rine, Dominic Coscarelli,Parker Hedrick, Joe Mannlein and Kobe Jennings.  It was a great team effort playing their best game of the season.  These guys have elevated their game and are combining really well.  It’s been  fun watching the improvement .  The JV has improved their record to 13=4-0.
