The Tecumseh High Schools Girls’ Golf Team bounced back from three shaky matches to finish fifth in the Coldwater Invitational Friday. The team had a total score of 401, beating 13 other teams in the 18-hole tournament at the Golf Club of Coldwater.
Carley LaPlant paced the Indians, shooting an 88 for fifth place individually. There were 83 golfers total. Anneka Hart made a good showing, carding a 102 and Paige Rupley shot a personal best 104. Ashley Barth came in with a 107. Despite an equipment malfunction, Alice Lee shot a 113.
Other teams competing included Kalamazoo Hacket (346), Marshall (380), Coldwater Red (387), Battle Creek Lakeview (389), Parma Western (403), Portage Northern (408), Ann Arbor Pioneer (409), Napoleon (417), Sturgis (428), Three Rivers (430), Jackson (432), Hanover-Horton (434), Portage Central (453), Harper Creek (468), Coldwater White (475), Charlotte (478), and Kalamazoo Central (DNF).
The Indians play the Lincoln Railsplitters on Monday in their last league match, making up a rain-out from Sept. 9. The SEC tournament will be held Tuesday at Monroe Country Club.
